Traditionally sensors only measured the light that falls exactly between 400nm – 700nm because this was all that we thought the plants could use for photosynthesis, this is untrue. Nowadays, scientists know that plants utilize infrared and ultraviolet light which fall out of the 400 – 700nm range.
