Mono Potassium Phosphate (MKP) Water Soluble Fertiliser
The cleanest way to push phosphorus and potassium in flower, with zero nitrogen. Mono potassium phosphate (MKP) is one of the most concentrated soluble fertilisers you can buy. It delivers only phosphorus and potassium, the two nutrients plants demand most when rooting, flowering and ripening fruit. No nitrogen, no chloride, no sodium, and a low salt index, which means a powerful bloom boost with less risk of leaf burn or salt build-up.
Guaranteed analysis
| Element | g/kg | % |
|---|---|---|
| Phosphorus (P) | 220 g/kg | 22% |
| Potassium (K) | 280 g/kg | 28% |
Contains no nitrogen (N). Figures are given in the elemental form used on South African labels. Overseas products express the same nutrients as oxides, where this analysis works out to roughly 50% P2O5 and 34% K2O.
What it does for your plants
- Root development: phosphorus drives early root growth, which is why MKP is often used at the start of a plant's season to establish a strong root system.
- More and better flowers: phosphorus supports flower bud formation and fruit set.
- Fruit quality and sugar content: potassium moves sugars through the plant, giving larger, sweeter, better coloured fruit. MKP is widely used during the productive stages of fruit crops for exactly this reason.
- Stress tolerance: potassium strengthens plants against drought, heat, cold and disease.
- No nitrogen: boost bloom without triggering leafy, stretchy growth late in the cycle.
- Gentle on plants: low salt index with no chloride or sodium.
Signs your plants need P and K
- Phosphorus deficiency: slow, stunted growth, dark dull leaves, purple or reddish stems and leaf undersides, poor rooting and weak flowering.
- Potassium deficiency: yellowing, browning or a scorched look on the edges and tips of older leaves, weak stems, and small or poorly filled fruit and flowers.
How to use
Dissolve fully in water before use and always measure EC. MKP is highly concentrated, so a little goes a long way. For reference, every 1 gram per litre of water adds 220 ppm phosphorus and 280 ppm potassium, and 0.25 g per litre adds about 55 ppm phosphorus and 70 ppm potassium. Adjust your dose to your crop, growth stage and base nutrient.
- Hydroponics and coco: add to your reservoir as a bloom booster alongside your base nutrient, then adjust pH. MKP is mildly acidic in solution.
- Soil, pots and garden beds: dissolve and water in as a drench.
- Fertigation: fully soluble and suitable for drip and irrigation systems.
Important mixing rule
Never mix MKP in concentrated form with calcium products such as calcium nitrate or calcium magnesium nitrate. Phosphate reacts with calcium and drops out of solution as a solid. In a two tank system MKP goes in Tank B, away from the calcium. Once diluted in your final reservoir it is perfectly fine to combine.
Pack sizes
- 1kg: ideal for home growers, tents and small systems. At 0.25 g per litre one bag treats 4,000 litres of water.
- 25kg bag: best value for commercial growers, greenhouses, orchards and hydroponic farms.
Store sealed in a cool, dry place. Packaging may vary.
Pairs well with: Hydroflow Hydroponic Nutrient, Calcium Nitrate, Potassium Sulphate, Epsom Salts and Calcium Magnesium Nitrate.
