Makhro Iron Chelate EDDHA 100g

The iron supplement that stays available when other chelates give up. Makhro Iron Chelate is a fully water soluble iron micronutrient chelated with EDDHA, the most stable iron chelate you can buy. It prevents and corrects iron chlorosis, the pale yellow new growth with green veins that shows up when plants cannot get enough iron.

Reg. No. B3500, Act 36 of 1947.

Why EDDHA matters

  • Stable across a very wide pH range: the manufacturer lists a stability range of pH 3.1 to 9.4. Common EDTA iron starts dropping out of solution above pH 6.
  • High ortho-ortho content: the ortho-ortho isomer is the strongest form of EDDHA, and this product guarantees a minimum of 35 g/kg.
  • Made for coco and passive systems: in coco and bottom fed systems such as AutoPots, root zone pH tends to drift higher than reservoir pH. EDDHA keeps iron available to the plant when that happens.
  • Fully water soluble: suitable for reservoirs, drenches and fertigation.

Signs your plants need iron

  • New leaves come in pale yellow or lime green while the veins stay darker.
  • The yellowing starts at the top of the plant, on the youngest growth.
  • Growth slows and the plant looks washed out even though the feed strength is correct.

How to use

For growers who work in ppm: every 1 gram per 100 litres of water adds 0.6 ppm iron. Dissolve the powder in a cup of water first, then add it to your reservoir after your base nutrients are fully dissolved. The solution turns deep red. That is normal for EDDHA iron and is not a sign of overdosing.

  • Hydroponics and coco: add to the reservoir after your base nutrients, then adjust pH.
  • Soil, pots and garden beds (label rate): dissolve 2 to 10 g per litre of water and water in around the feeding roots, or apply as a dry powder and water in well.
  • Label guide: vegetables 5 to 10 g per square metre, ornamentals 5 to 50 g per plant, fruit and citrus 25 g or more per tree, grapevines 7.5 to 15 g per vine.

Store sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and pets. EDDHA iron stains, so rinse spills straight away. Packaging may vary.
